(More customer reviews)My 7 year old son received this item as a gift for his birthday. He was SO excited as he LOVES anything spy related. He received the video watch as well. The Secret Audio Recording Pen is a complete PIECE OF JUNK! We took it out of the box, put in a AAA battery and it didn't work at all. It DID light up to indicate that it is recording, but no sound came out at all.
We went and purchased a replacement pen the next day. CAREFULLY we removed it from the box. We put a fresh AAA battery in it. We turned it on and pressed record - it worked! We could hear his recordings, we could delete them, we could skip over recordings - great! Within 10 minutes, however, he "snapped" (no other word to describe the action) the pen clip back in place (it must be lifted up 50 degrees per the directions in order to reach the buttons to make the pen work), and bingo - it stopped working!!! Lights on, no sound. Talk about disappointment!!
On top of it all, we attempted to go to the [...] website to troubleshoot - lo and behold, their site is no longer accessible. Go figure!!!
I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, especially not for a Christmas gift! My husband just agreed - in his words, "This pen shouldn't even be on the market, it's so bad. Talk about a crummy design!"
