Fingerprint Kit Review

So, anybody who has ever put their finger on an ink pad and then put their finger on a piece of paper knows that you end up with a big unrecognizable ink spot... but after you put your finger on the paper once when you do it again you get a print, maybe even two or three more as the ink progressively wears away. The pad that comes with this kit is an ink pad, with very wet ink. Now I don't have a degree in criminal justice and have never been trained in taking "proper" fingerprints but I had the presence of mind to have my nephew and the kids he was playing with blot their fingers on a separate piece of paper before putting their prints on the print cards that come with the kit. It worked fine and the kids loved it. He really liked the kit too... eyes lit up like Christmas when he opened the gift. And had fun getting his fingers dirty (keep a wet paper towel handy to wipe off the kids fingers!) I wouldn't recommend leaving the kit with the kids to play with on their own unless you don't mind a mess being made where they're playing. If you want to save yourself some money stop by your local police station, ask for a fingerprint card and make photo copies of it. Then buy a stamp pad at an office supply store. Put the two together and you've got a home made kit - but it probably wont be as much fun as watching the excitement of a kid tearing off some wrapping paper and seeing this package.
